Little Women Posted on 01 Sep 2008
Michael will be playing Professor Bhaer in the Stages St. Louis production of Little Women. It will run for 29 performances from December 5 until 28 at the historic Roberts Orpheum Theatre in downtown St. Louis. Tickets are already available through Ticketmaster.

Les Misérables Benefit Concert Posted on 09 Jun 2008
As posted earlier, the Seaside Music Theater's production of Les Misérables was cancelled for financial reasons. SMT has now announced that it will be doing two benefit concerts to help the theater raise money to solve its current financial crisis: one on June 21 at 7 pm and a second one on June 22 at 2 pm.
Michael will be featured as Jean Valjean, so these concerts are not to be missed. To purchase tickets, call 386-252-6200 or visit the Seaside Music Theater box office located within the News-Journal Center, 221 N. Beach Street, Daytona Beach. Tickets are $40 for all ages.
theAtrainplays, vol. XXIII Posted on 03 Jun 2008
theAtrainplays are a celebration of New York, created by six teams while traveling the entire route of the A train. Over a 24 hour period, six new short musicals will be written, rehearsed, and performed. The evening is a benefit for the Off-Broadway community. Michael will be one of the performers. On Wednesday June 25th at 8:00pm, all six new musical experiences will be shared with the audience at New World Stages. More info can be found here.

Seaside Music Theater has announced that it will have to cancel its 2008 productions including Les Misérables in which Michael was set to play Jean Valjean. You can read artistic director Lester Malizia's official announcement here.

Michael is back in business! In June, he will be returning to Daytona Beach, Florida to star in Seaside Music Theater's production of Les Misérables. Michael will be playing the role of Jean Valjean. SMT will be producing the show for the first time ever this summer, from June 12 until 29. Michael joins ASTEP in India Posted on 07 Jul 2007
After starring in SMT's production of Nine (which opened yesterday!), Michael will be volunteering with ASTEP in India. This organisation is closely affiliated with the George Foundation. They work towards poverty eradication in India, promote environmental health, and strengthen democratic institutions and values in developing countries. Michael will be in India from August 4th until early September.

Michael was mentioned in the June 20 edition of Daytona Beach News Journal regarding Seaside Music Theater's production of 'Silver Screen Serenade': "Michael Shawn Lewis was at the musical and party Friday and is looking forward to his role as Guido Contini in "Nine," an SMT production July 5 to 22. Michael has just left the cast of "The Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway, where he played Raoul. He's performed the role with five different companies in the U.S. and abroad."

There's some very exciting news! Michael will soon be returning to Seaside Music Theater in Daytona Beach, Florida. He will be playing Guido in the theater's Summer production of 'Nine'. Therefore Michael will be leaving the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera on June 9th to start rehearsals for this production. Nine will be playing at the brandnew News-Journal Center from July 5th until July 22nd. Single tickets are not available yet, but if you're interested in a subscription for all of the SMT Summer shows including Nine, you can call the box office at 386-252-6200 or 800-854-5592.

Michael and Julie Hanson, another cast member of the Broadway Phantom production, taped a segment for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. They sang All I Ask Of You. This American show airs from 9:00pm EDT on Sunday September 3rd until 6:30pm Monday, September 4th. Check the official site for your local listings!

Recently Michael participated in a reading of 'Rudolf - The Last Kiss', which is Frank Wildhorn's newest creation. The musical concerns the story of Crown Prince Rudolf, the son of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth. The cast featured Rob Evan as Rudolf with Brandi Burkhardt as Mary and Michael as the villain Taafe.
